American Airlines operates from Terminal 3 at London Heathrow Airport (LHR). If your flight is operated by Iberia or British Airways please check the right terminal before proceeding to the airport. Here's your simple guide to set your trip off to a flying start.
Check-In
We have several check-in options available:
- Check-in desks are located in Terminal 3, Zone B
- Self-service check-in machines are located in Terminal 3, Zone B within the check-in area
- Flagship Check-In for First Class and Business Class passengers is located in Zone H, adjacent to Terminal 3
- Online Check-In is available from 24 hours and up to 2 hours before your flight departure time

Open daily from 06:45 to 18:15 (Saturday closes at 16:15)

American Airlines operate a number of clubs and lounges worldwide. At London Heathrow we provide The Admirals Club, The Flagship Lounge and The Arrivals Lounge where you can relax and unwind before your flight.
Admirals Club
The Admirals club is a great place to relax before your flight. You’ll find plenty of seating, a separate children's area for the younger set and even showers if you'd like to freshen up.
Location & Opening Times
Located in Terminal 3 on the departure level, beyond Passport Control "Lounge H" area.
Open daily from 06:30 - 21:00 (hours may vary on public holidays).
Lounge Access
The Admirals Club is open to:
- Admirals Club members (including one-day pass)
- American Airlines International First and Business Class passengers
- AAdvantage Executive Platinum® and AAdvantage Platinum® members
- oneworld International First and Business Class passengers on a flight operated by a oneworld member
- oneworld Emerald and Sapphire tier members on an a flight operated by a oneworld member airline

Arrivals Lounge - Available To American Airlines First Class, Business Class And oneworld Emerald
Once you’ve landed at London Heathrow our Arrivals Lounge is a great place to freshen up and relax before continuing your onward journey.
Location & Opening Times
The Arrivals Lounge is located on the 2nd Floor of Terminal 3 immediately after Customs. Take the elevator located next to the restaurants in the Arrivals building.
Open daily from 06:00 - 14:00
Lounge Access
The Arrivals Lounge open to:
- American Airlines First Class and Business Class passengers
- oneworld Emerald customers arriving into LHR on a flight operated by American Airlines
All other passengers can pay a fee of $90 USD + VAT for access to lounge upon arrival.

Transferring between flights is simple when you know how. Take a look at the tips below that will help you make a smoother connection at London Heathrow Airport.
Where do I go once I’ve arrived at the airport?
Once you’ve arrived at London Heathrow airport, follow the purple signs marked ‘Flight Connections’ which will lead you to the correct terminal for your onward flight.
What happens if I do not have a boarding pass?
If you do not have a boarding pass you will need to see an American Airlines representative at the transfer area.
Do I have to pick up my luggage or re check-in again?
If your bags have been labelled to your final destination and you were given a boarding pass for your onward flight then your luggage will be taken care of. However, if your connecting flight departs from another airport please make sure you collect your luggage to re-check in unless instructed otherwise.
How do I get between Terminals?
If your connecting flight departs from another terminal there are free trains or buses available every six to eight minutes with a journey time of approximately ten minutes.

Travelling To / From London Heathrow Airport
When travelling to the airport, please allow yourself plenty of time. To help you on your way we have some travel suggestions below, but please check with the relevant operator before setting off to ensure you have the most up to date information.
Bus or Coach
Frequent bus and coach services connect Heathrow with more than 500 local and national destinations across the UK. Most coach services operate from the central bus station, which can be reached by the subways linking Terminals 1, 2 and 3. The central bus station is well signed posted from all terminals and is located next to the London Underground station for Terminals 1, 2 and 3.

Car
Terminals 1, 2 & 3 are located in the centre of Heathrow and can be reached via the following motorways: M4 Junction 4, M25 Junction 15 & A4 (local road)
Terminal 4 is on the south side of Heathrow and can be reached via the following motorways:
M4 Junction 3, M25 Junction 14 & A30 (local road).
Terminal 5 is on the Western Perimeter Road. If you are coming from the M4, exit at junction 4b and follow the M25 south to junction 14.
Both short-term and long-term parking facilities are available at Heathrow Airport.

London Underground
Heathrow has three stations on the London Underground's Piccadilly Line, one station for Terminals 1, 2 & 3, one for Terminal 4 and another one for Terminal 5. Average journey time to central London is approximately 50-60 minutes. Tubes run every five minutes at peak times and every nine minutes at off-peak times and weekends.

Train
BAA's Heathrow Express non-stop train service between Heathrow Airport and Paddington station in the heart of London takes just 15 minutes to and from Terminals 1, 2 & 3, and 20 minutes to and from Terminal 4 & 5. There’s also the Heathrow Connect train which is the only direct rail service between central London and Terminal 4. It also offers excellent connections to the London Underground network at Ealing Broadway and London Paddington.
