American announces start date for second daily Stansted – New York route |

American Airlines has announced the start date and schedule for a second daily Stansted – New York JFK service. In July American announced initial plans for a new service between Stansted and JFK which begins on October 29, 2007.
The addition of a second daily service commencing August 2, 2008, will give passengers choices of a morning or late afternoon departure from Stansted to New York and an early or late evening departure from New York to Stansted.
"Response to our initial announcement has been very positive and with the addition of a second daily service from Summer 2008 we can provide our customers with further choice and flexibility,” said Craig Kreeger, American’s Senior Vice President – International. “With two daily services from London Stansted to New York JFK and up to six services from London Heathrow to JFK we offer a range of options for passengers traveling from London, the South East and East Anglia to New York and beyond."
Mr. Kreeger added that since opening reservations for its London Stansted services in July, American has received much interest from customers in the option that American provides for travellers to begin their journey to New York from London Stansted but return back to London Heathrow, or vice versa. "This is proving popular with business travellers for whom one London airport is convenient for their office but another for their home," he said.
American will fly between London Stansted and New York JFK with two-class (Business and Economy) Boeing 767-300 aircraft with 221 seats, including 30 Next Generation Business Class seats. Designed to give passengers more comfort, flexibility and privacy, American’s new Business Class features innovative, fully motorized lie-flat seats in a 2-2-2 configuration, a personal in-flight entertainment device with audio and video on demand, state-of-the-art cabin lighting, and sleek, ergonomically-designed overhead bins.
At New York JFK, passengers can conveniently connect to around 40 destinations across the Americas and the Caribbean served by American.
The airline’s new $1.3 billion terminal JFK, features a new U.S. Customs and Immigration facility which can handle 1,600 customers per hour, and a new 11,200 square foot Admirals Club and international First Class Flagship Lounge in the international concourse all designed to provide features that make international travel more pleasant.
