American announces new routes from London's Heathrow and Stansted Airports

American Airlines, the world's largest airline and a founding member of the oneworld® alliance, has announced that it will launch daily services from London Stansted Airport to New York's John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) commencing in October this year. American has also announced that following the implementation of the new US/EU 'Open Skies' agreement commencing in March 2008, it will operate daily, non-stop, scheduled services from London Heathrow Airport to Dallas/Fort Worth and to Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina.

From March 30, 2008 American will be operating one daily departure from London Gatwick and one from London Heathrow non-stop to Dallas-Fort Worth giving customers a choice of London airports. American currently operates twice daily from London Gatwick to Dallas/Fort Worth. From the same date, the airline's daily non-stop service between London Gatwick and Raleigh/Durham will be moved to London Heathrow.

Service from London Stansted to New York JFK will commence on October 29, 2007 with a daily, morning departure. From March 2008 American will begin a second roundtrip between London Stansted and JFK. The new services will be operated by two-class Boeing 767-300 aircraft with 221 seats, including 30 new Business Class seats. Designed to give passengers more comfort, flexibility and privacy, American's new Business Class features innovative, fully motorized lie-flat seats in a 2-2-2 configuration, a personal in-flight entertainment device with audio and video on demand, state-of-the-art cabin lighting, and sleek, ergonomically-designed overhead bins.

Stansted, is becoming popular with an increasing number of business travellers, particularly those traveling to or from the City of London, the UK capital's financial centre. Stansted is just 46 minutes from the City by the fast and frequent Stansted Express rail service.

At New York JFK, passengers can conveniently connect to nearly 200 destinations across the Americas and the Caribbean served by American. The airline's new $1.3 billion terminal JFK, features a new U.S. Customs and Immigration facility which can handle 1,600 customers per hour, and a new 11,200 square foot Admirals Club and international First Class Flagship Lounge in the international concourse all designed to provide features that make international travel more pleasant.

The new Dallas/Fort Worth and Raleigh/Durham daily services both commence on March 30, 2008 and will join American's existing daily services from London Heathrow, the world's busiest international airport, to Boston, Chicago, Miami, New York and Los Angeles. American currently operates more transatlantic services from London Heathrow than any other US airline. As with all American's flights from London Heathrow, the new services will be operated by 245-seat Boeing 777-200 aircraft in a three-class configuration.

"These are significant schedule developments and demonstrate a continuing commitment which is driven by the London market's importance to our customers, as well as Heathrow's worldwide connections through our oneworld® partners," said Gerard Arpey, Chairman and CEO of American Airlines. "This will be the first time London passengers using our DFW or Raleigh/Durham gateways will be able to fly directly to Heathrow.

"In addition, our new service to London Stansted will provide our travelers with an alternative London airport and convenient service into a growing business district," Mr. Arpey said. "Our customers have asked for this choice of airports and we are going to meet that need at competitive prices."

At London Heathrow, American offers connection to and from destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia on services operated by oneworld® and other partner airlines.

Dallas/Fort Worth is American's principle hub from which the airline operates more than 800 departures a day giving passengers arriving from London multiple options for onward connections to destinations throughout the Americas.

Raleigh/Durham is at the heart of the state of North Carolina. The state's government, leading educational institutions and cutting-edge, high-tech industries are based in Raleigh/Durham and its Research Triangle Park, making the region an important center for business travelers.
