Ticketing - Paper Ticket Fee Guidelines



American Airlines' paper ticket fees apply to all e-ticket eligible paper tickets as follows:

Collection And Remittance Process

50 U.S.
U.S. travel agents must collect the fee on a miscellaneous charge order (MCO). Paper ticket numbers must be placed in the endorsements box on the MCO and 001 PTF must be placed in the type of service for which issued box.
The MCO must be reported in the same reporting period as the referenced paper ticket.
Agents who fail to collect the fee or properly document the MCO are subject to a debit memo.

Canada
Travel agents in Canada must collect the fee on a multi purpose document (MPD). Paper ticket numbers must be placed in the endorsements box on the MPD and 001 PTF must be placed in the issued in connection with box.
The MPD must be reported in the same reporting period as the referenced paper ticket.
Agents who fail to collect the fee or properly document the MPD are subject to a debit memo.

Europe
Travel agents in Europe must collect the fee on a MCOs. Paper ticket numbers must be placed in the endorsements box on the MCO and 001 PTF must be placed in the type of service for which issued box.
The MCO must be reported in the same reporting period as the referenced paper ticket.
Agents who fail to collect the fee or properly document the MCO are subject to a debit memo.

Caribbean
Travel agents must collect the paper ticket fee via a virtual MPD and report within the same period of paper ticket issuance. The Agency must add the ticket number in the issued in connection with box and the ticket check digit in the check digit box. Agencies must place 001ptf and the PNR record locator in the endorsements box.

Where applicable, IVA/VAT taxes must be collected and reported with the paper ticket fee on the virtual MPD.

Exception: Bermuda Travel Agencies must collect the fee via a manual MPD following the same guidelines. Once the virtual MPD is implemented, agencies must begin to use The virtual MPD.

Agents who fail to collect the fee or properly document the MPD will be subject to collection from AA via a debit memo or virtual MPD.

Central/South America
Travel agents must collect the paper ticket fee via a virtual MPD and report within the same period of paper ticket issuance. The Agency must add the ticket number in the issued in connection with box and the ticket check digit in the check digit box. Agencies must place 001ptf and the PNR record locator in the endorsements box.

Where applicable, IVA/VAT taxes must be collected and reported with the paper ticket fee on the virtual MPD.

Agents who fail to collect the fee or properly document the MPD will be subject to a debit memo.

Mexico
Travel agents must collect the paper ticket fee via a virtual MPD and report within the same period of paper ticket issuance. The Agency must add the ticket number in the issued in connection with box and the ticket check digit in the check digit box. Agencies must place 001ptf and the PNR record locator in the endorsements box.

Where applicable, IVA/VAT taxes must be collected and reported with the paper ticket fee on the virtual MPD.

Agents who fail to collect the fee or properly document the MPD are subject to a debit memo.

Japan
Travel agents in Japan must collect the fee on a multi purpose document (MPD). Paper ticket numbers must be placed in the endorsements box on the MPD and 001 PTF must be placed in the issued in connection with box.
The MPD must be reported in the same reporting period as the referenced paper ticket.

Agents who fail to collect the fee or properly document the MPD are subject to a debit memo.
